Golf Mad in the City of Sails!
Auckland - The City of Sails
Auckland is the gateway to New Zealand. It is a unique harbour city, with spectacular views and breathtaking scenery and also home to an incredible amount of top notch golf courses! The Big Boys team have compiled a tour to showcase some of them. Got a hankering to play a course not mentioned? No worries, just email us your request and we will create a tour just for you at no extra charge!!!
Day One
Your first 18 holes will, we are certain, be a fabulous start to your weekend. Formosa Golf Course, developed to an international PGA standard. The 18-hole golf course designed by Sir Bob Charles, is listed in "The Finest Golf Clubs of the World". Formosa was the venue for the 1998 New Zealand open. From its cliff top and coastal fairways, the course has panoramic views of Waiheke Island, Rangitoto Island and the distant Coromandel peninsula. A perfect start to what we guarantee will be a perfect weekend!
Day Two
For todays golf you are invited to play another champoinship course, The Grange. The New Zealand Open Championship has often been held on the course, most recently in January 2004. The Air New Zealand/Shell Open began its 20 year operation at The Grange in 1975, and after moving to other venues returned for the last three years of its existence, 1992 to 1994 inclusive. The Grange is easy walking with undulating tree-lined fairways. The premium is placed on accuracy rather than length with trees and bunkers strategically placed to punish the shots that stray.
Day Three
For your last 18 holes on your Big Boys tour, we have arranged a real treat, as today you are booked in to play the fabulous Titirangi Golf Course. Designed by Alister MacKenzie and set among tall exotic trees, thick native bush and meandering streams. This is one of New Zealand's top championship courses and we are sure it will impress!
