12 Day South Island Tour
Day One
Christchurch – “The Garden City” so named for its picturesque gardens and homes. As all who visit it say it is what seems, an effortless blend of modern and traditional architecture whilst still retaining the character of an English city. The perfect place to start the perfect golfing vacation!
Day Two
Your first round of golf on New Zealand soil will be a very special occasion as you are invited to play at the home of the internationally famous HSBC New Zealand PGA Championship – Clearwater! Designed by John Darby in consultation with New Zealand golfing legend, Sir Bob Charles. The course meanders around a succession of spring-fed lakes and trout-filled streams, with uninterrupted views of the spectacular Southern Alps. With 5 different tee off positions this course is ideal for all abilities of players.
Day Three
The Drive to Lake Tekapo will be in your memories for a long time and will be the most spectacular first peek at the incredible scenery New Zealand has to offer. Lake Tekapo covers an area of 83 km2 and is at an altitude of 700m above sea level. The bright, clear, turquoise colour of the lake seems like magic but it’s actually caused by a product of 'rock flour' or sediment in the water. After you have settled into your accommodation for the night you are booked into play at Balmoral Golf Course. situated 750 meters above sea level, the Lake Tekapo golf course is the highest recorded course in the southern hemisphere
Day Four
Today you leave Lake Tekapo and drive through yet more stunning scenery to the former gold mining town of Arrowtown. Spectacular scenery, four very distinct seasons and a tranquil atmosphere attracts visitors from New Zealand and around the world. Once you have freshened up at you accommodation the remainder of the day is free where you will have the opportunity to discover many of the gems of Arrowtown including the Chinese Miners Settlement, the district’s museum, plus some of the best wineries and artist galleries in the area.
Day Five
Today you have the pleasure of playing at the picturesque Arrowtown golf course. Surrounded by mountains, the 18 hole course has superb views from every fairway. To play golf in this inspiring setting – is truly a unique experience! After lunch you will head off to New Zealand’s premier four season lake and alpine resort –Queenstown. Surrounded by majestic mountains and nestled on the shores of crystal clear Lake Wakatipu. Queenstown will feed your imagination, fuel your passions and revitalise your spirit!
Day six.
18 holes of pure magic await you today as you take to the greens at Millbrook Golf course. Designed by internationally renowned professional Sir Bob Charles. It is without question one of the finest alpine golf courses in the world. It's a 6412 metre, par-72 that is relatively wide open and trouble free for golfers of all handicaps. It's not the awesome challenge of the course that attracts players so much as its awesome setting. Nowhere else in New Zealand can you play golf with a mountain range like The Remarkables as a backdrop.
Day Seven
Today you are invited to play at Queenstown Golf Course. The course is internationally recognized as one of the most picturesque golf courses in the world with vistas that are truly awe inspiring. After lunch you leave the shores of Lake Wakatipu and travel to your next nights accommodation Wanaka. Lake Wanaka is the picture and the mountains are the frame! Lake Wanaka is a place to take a deep breath and relax. Protected from the outside world by the grandeur of the mountains, you’re enclosed in a hidden paradise
Day Eight
Leaving Wanaka will indeed be sad but once you see what is only a few hours drive away you will be stunned! The Franz Josef Glacier Valley boasts some of the most spectacular scenery in New Zealand. 6km from the centre of the village, the Glacier descends from the tops of the Southern Alps into rainforest at 300m above sea level whether by foot, helicopter or plane the choice is yours but we guarantee which ever mode of transport you choose this will be a talking point for years to come!
Day Nine
Picturesque valleys and ravines, roaring waterfalls and snow capped alpine peaks define stunning Arthur's Pass. This will be your location for tonight’s stay. Situated an approximately two and a half hours drive from Franz Josef. Arthur's Pass, named after Sir Arthur Dudley Dobson, is a mountain pass in the Southern Alps, Arthur's Pass offers numerous bush and mountain walks, all within walking distance of your accommodation. Here you will get the chance to maybe catch a glimpse of New Zealand’s fascinating alpine parrot the Kea!
Day Ten
Today you leave the wilds of Arthurs Pass and drive the approximate one and a half hour journey back to where it all began, Christchurch. After settling back into your accommodation your afternoon is free to relax and prepare for your final game of golf tomorrow at Terrance Downs
Day Eleven
At Terrace Downs, Mother Nature herself provided the foundations for the perfect golf course. The resort's 550 acres of pristine High Country are set against the dramatic backdrop of the Southern Alps - creating a course that is as picturesque as it is challenging. Today as you play your last game on New Zealand soil we are sure you will believe as we do that we have saved the best to last!
Day Twelve
As you prepare to leave our fair shores we are certain as with all Paradise Golf Tours that you will leave with memories that we last a lifetime!
