Golf at the Lake
From a clean blue lake, to the breathtaking fury of the Huka Falls,Taupo is always a firm favorite. Located at the heart of New Zealand's North Island, the Lake Taupo district is an area of considerable beauty and diversity.Often described as the jewel in the crown of the North Island, Lake Taupo is set amidst clean, green countryside, spectacular mountain scenery, beautiful native bush and some of the largest pine forests in the Southern Hemisphere. Not forgetting of course three very fine golf courses!!!!!!
Day One
For you first round of golf on your "Golf at the Lake" tour you are invited to play Centennial, set on an expanse of 180 acres. Each hole is independently placed, with tree lined fairways and large well maintained greens. It is a long course with skillfully placed bunkers and is a test for any level of golfer. as this is the home of the Taupo Golf CLub the 19th hole is always a popular destination with the Big Boys team!
Day Two
Today is a real treat as you are booked in to play at Kinloch which is a short 20 minutes drive from Taupo. The course is designed by Jack Nicklaus and is nestled in a residential community with breath taking lake views. Jack Nicklaus uses the natural environment to dictate the shapes of his golf holes. This has produced a beautiful but challenging links like course in a very natural environment.
Day Three
To finish on a bang we have one last fabulous course to play. Wairakei International Golf Course - rated by the Prestigious US Golf Digest magazine to be in the top 100 courses in the world outside of the USA in 2005.Designed by Commander John Harris, Michael Wolveridge and Peter Thomson with the aim of producing New Zealand's first internationally recognised golf course, there is little doubt in any New Zealanders ( and the Big Boys teams ) mind that this trio exceeded all expectations.
